Peace That Passes Understanding
As they wheeled my bed from my room to Labor & Delivery, we passed a waiting room. I looked over and saw 15 of my friends and church family on their knees holding a prayer vigil for me.
I already felt at peace, but the sight of that flooded me with the most serene calm.
Best Friends
So, today, June 8th, is National Best Friends Day. That one gave me pause. I didn’t know what to say about it or what to post about it. The fact is, I’m not really a “best friends” kind of girl. Don’t get me wrong, I have some GOOD friends; friends I love having girls’ night out dates, friends I love meeting for coffee, friends I’d bring a meal to in a heartbeat. I have friends I could call on in an emergency, an friends I MISS SO MUCH after moving away from our home of 8 years. But, I don’t have a “best friend.”
Today’s Word of Promise: 1 Chronicles 28:20
A verse this morning made me pause as I was walking. It was 1 Chronicles 28:20:
And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.
We’re Moving!
Now, we’ve started packing. The kids’ last day of school is December 18th. At 8:30 that morning, the movers will arrive and load our household up, then cart it across the state to our new home on Fort Knox Army post, near Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Perspective and Blessings
This is a busy time of year for me. It’s harvest season, and even though I didn’t put in a garden this year, I have friends who did and still find myself blessed with a bounty of produce that needs to be “put up”. For those of you who don’t do home preserving, what I mean by that is that it needs to be prepared in some way and then preserved in some way.
