30 Days of Bloggity Bloggness: Day 11

Day 11: A TV show to which you’re addicted

I don’t watch a lot of television.  We don’t have cable, and wouldn’t really watch anything that came on, anyway.  We do have Sky Angel, which is a Christian satellite company.  It has a few dozen Christian stations, The Weather Channel, some sports channels, and a 24-hour news channel, but we don’t put it on very often.

When we watch anything at all, we stream it through Netflix.  So, anything we watch is quite old, because it has to be released to DVD and then released free to Netflix.

There are two exceptions to this.

Doctor Who

and Downton Abbey

With Doctor Who, I have to wait until it’s on DVD, then on Netflix, and that wait is INTERMINABLE.  I just finished season 6, and I’m so sad that I have to wait an entire year for the next season to be available.

I love Doctor Who.  David Tennant is my absolute favorite Doctor, but the final episode of season six is likely my favorite episode.  I’m re-watching all of them to see if I really mean that.  It is a BRILLIANT production.

I stumbled across Downton Abbey.  I saw someone mention something about it on Facebook, so I clicked the link and was absolutely intrigued by the plot.  I searched and discovered the entire first season was on Netflix.  I started watching the first one and think I watched the entire season in two days.  I was absolutely hooked.  I searched and discovered that it would be on PBS about two weeks later with season two.  It is the only show in the last four years that I streamed and watched when it came on.  Every Monday morning, I woke up and watched Downton Abbey.

Season 2 just ended and I hate that it’s a year before another season will begin.  It is an AWESOME show filled with flawed characters doing the best they can in their world and in their roles.  I love it.

  1. I loooove Downton Abbey!!! I was a few episodes away from finishing season two, and I stopped watching, and forced my husband to start season one. He got hooked, and once he was caught up, we finished together. I can’t WAIT for season three!!
