Christian Fiction Friday: February 13th

Welcome to this week’s edition of Christian Fiction Friday brought to you by me and my lovely and talented co-host, Alana Terry! This is a chance for Christian authors to post short snippets from their works in progress! Easy and fun!

Here is my offering for the week: five paragraphs from my current work in progress, Flight of Faith, Part 7 of the Virtues and Valor Series.

Suddenly, the antiaircraft fire ceased. No more explosions tried to rock them from the sky.

“Not good,” Harold murmured, looking out the window. “There’s no way this beast can out fly fighters.”

“I’m going to keep climbing. Maybe they won’t see us,” she said quietly. Then, because the plane was filled with intelligent, strong people, she yelled back to the cabin, “This ain’t right. They stopped shooting, but we’re pretty far from the coast.”

Harold added in voice intended to raise above the sound of the engines, “If you can manage, keep a look out the windows, lads and lasses! The only reason they’d stop shooting is if they sent up fighters to bring us down!”

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a tracer. Twisting in her seat, she looked as far behind the plane as she could and saw a glimpse of something in the moonlight. “Hang on!” she yelled. “They’re coming in low on our six.”

Now, link your Christian Fiction Friday! Here are the rules:

1. Christian Fiction Friday is a blog hop where authors post short (400-ish words or less) snippets from their current works in progress (not published pieces).

2. Keep it PG-13 or lower. No swearing, no sex scenes. If you have a particularly violent scene or deal with a heavy or controversial subject matter, please include a disclaimer at the beginning of your post.

Suggestions:

1. Visit at least some of the other Christian Fiction Friday authors each week and comment on their blogs.

2. Don’t offer critiques unless the author specifically asks for it in his or her post.

3. Please include this blurb at the end of your weekly post:

Christian Fiction Friday!

Welcome to the first edition of Christian Fiction Friday brought to you by me and my lovely and talented co-host, Alana Terry! This is a chance for Christian authors to post short snippets from their works in progress! Easy and fun!

Here is my offering for the week: four paragraphs from my current work in progress, Flight of Faith, Part 7 of the Virtues and Valor Series.

Eddie’s voice sounded quiet, so quiet that Helen wondered if she was the only one who heard the slight edge of menace. “That ain’t funny, Troy.”

“I said I’m going. I’m leaving for England. In the morning.”

JoAnn stood. “Don’t be foolish. There’s a war on. The seas aren’t safe. I know you read about the Lusitania!”

“I’m not sailing.” Helen swallowed and lifted her chin. “I’m flying. I’m flying Texas Diamond over and I’m going to volunteer. Just like Eddie did.”

Name That Fictional Town Winner!

Texas Diamond 1 smallI had so many great entries for “Name That Fictional Town”. The one that I chose was Leah’s. Here is her response:

Lamar, Texas, named after Hedy Lamar. Not only was she an actress, but she also helped create the ‘Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum’ which prevented American military messages from being intercepted by the enemy.

The reason I chose Hedy (there is already a Lamar, Texas, so I’m going with the first name) is because it completely stays congruent with the spirit of the series. All of the cover models are true heroines of the war and their stories are told at the end of every book, and all of the main characters are inspired by true heroines, and their stories are told at the end of the books. Because Hedy Lamar is a heroine of her time, my fictional town in Texas is now called Hedy.

Thank you every one who participated. I hate coming up with names. The more I write, the more I will come with these kind of fun contests!

Name That Fictional Town Contest!

Texas Diamond 1 smallI hate coming up with names. I’m much happier when other people do it for me. So — here’s the contest:

I need a fictional, oil-booming town outside of Dallas, Texas. This will be where my Virtues and Valor pilot, Helen Mulberry, codenamed Faith, is from.

If I pick your name, you get the entire Virtues and Valor series in ebook form. I’ve only released books 1-5, but you’ll get 6 and 7 as they release in February and March.

And…go!

You must comment on this blog post to enter. Comments will close on Wednesday, January 28th, at 5PM EST, and a winner will be chosen.
