Interview With Lenora Worth and a Giveaway!

Welcome to Readers Write to Know! I asked you, my readers, what questions they would ask their favorite authors if given the chance, and the authors visiting my blog answered them! This week, I’m so excited to have romance author Lenora Worth as my guest! I love that she had an idea for three books while singing in church. That has happened to me and it’s so wonderful when the idea comes so hard and swift that you let out a gasp! Read on to see how you can enter to win a copy of her latest release!

Tell us a little bit about yourself. I grew up in Georgia, lived in Lousiana for 30 years and now live in Florida. I sold my first book in 1993 and have now written over 100 books and novellas. I write inspiration suspense and sweet romance for Love Inspired, Tule Publishing, and Kensington.

Tell us about your current release. My current release is The Memory Quilt, an Amish mainstream novel set near Lake Erie. The Amish heroine finds a wounded man washed up on the lake and helps him recover from amnesia by stitching him a memory quilt.

If you knew ahead of time your book would benefit only one person on their spiritual journey, would you still write it? Yes. Always.

With all those characters in your head screaming to get out how do you write fast enough to get it all down? I write several different projects at a time and consider it as visiting my characters. It’s hard, but it’s also fun and challenging. I’ve never had writer’s block.

How do you push past the fear of your writing being average and be bold enough to sell it to a publisher? I pray about my ideas, I try to write the story I see in my head, and tell myself if I don’t send it, then can never see it. Then I get busy.

What inspired you to start writing, or did you always want to write? I knew I wanted to write after we had a writing assignment in the fourth grade. I loved writing the short story and poems we had to put together and I got a good grade. I was hooked from then on and starting writing story to sell on the playground for a quarter each!

What advice do you have for aspiring writers? The best advice–read, read, read. Then find a good writing group and join. Learn to listen and don’t rush into anything. This takes time and it’s a business where editors and agents are going to know more than you do about what sells.
But mostly, if you’re determined, and disciplined, you can become a published writer. And these days, you have wonderful ways of learning through the internet and online workshops and classes, as well as formal education and attempting to write your first draft.

Where’s the strangest place you’ve ever had a great writing idea? Well, once in church when we were singing “In the Garden,” I got an idea for three books and I let out a gasp. My husband said, “What’s wrong?” I whispered, “This song just gave me an idea for three books.” He said, “Then keep singing.” I did write those three books for Love Inspired.

The first books I ever read by Lenora Worth were the In the Garden Series. She immediately became one of my favorite authors.
