Interview with Cindy Kirk and a Giveaway!

Welcome to Readers Write to Know! I asked you, my readers, what questions they would ask their favorite authors if given the chance, and the authors visiting my blog answered them! This week, I am so happy to have Cindy Kirk as my guest. I really enjoyed this interview – especially the quote from her journal when she was a teenager. I love seeing dreams come true! Cindy is giving away 5 copies of the first book in her Seriously Sweet St. Louis series! Read on to see how you can become one of the winners!

Tell us a little bit about yourself. I started writing seriously after our daughter went away to college but from the time I’d been small, I’d made up stories. I’ve now written/published over 65 books–all romance–because I love a happy ending.

Tell us about your current release. My current release (11-1-21) is Home for the Holly Days. Home for the Holly Days is the heartwarming first book in the Holly Pointe contemporary romance series. If you like uplifting moments, charming characters, and endearing settings, then you’ll adore this touching tale.

With all those characters in your head screaming to get out how do you write fast enough to get it all down? So many stories, so little time. I finish one book and I move on to the next. I love writing and it’s a joy but it does take discipline.

What is your personal, most effective way to get past writer’s block? I don’t have trouble with writer’s block. If a scene isn’t coming together, sometimes I’m writing it from the wrong point of view. Sometimes, I just go take a walk and think about the story. Sometimes I just need to write and watch the scene unfold.

What inspired you to start writing, or did you always want to write? For as far back as I can remember, I made up stories in my head, changed the endings to movies and altered the backstories of TV characters. I thought every one did that! I didn’t realize until I was an adult that most people didn’t.

How did you determine whether to self-publish or seek a traditional publisher? When I started writing, self-publishing wasn’t really an option. It took me 3 1/2 years and five books to sell to Harlequin’s Love Inspired line. Though I no longer write for Harlequin, I still contact my editor there every year on 6/17, the day she called and offered to buy my book! you take the plunge and finally do it?

Have you always wanted to write a book? Yes. In my diary, when I was sixteen, I wrote “I don’t know what I’ll do if I can’t be a writer.”

What is your preferred method of writing? I use to write in longhand, then key in the words and make initial changes then. Now, unless I don’t have access to a laptop, I write on the computer.

I am new to Cindy. Are you a Christian writer, as well? I will have to look up some of your books. I love the cover for Holly Days. Christmas is my favorite holiday.

I’m a huge Cindy Kirk fan! You should definitely read HOME FOR THE HOLLY DAYS. You won’t be disappointed.

  1. Out of all the books you have written do you have a favorite character or one that holds special meaning to you.
