Chasing Pearl, book 8 in the Jewel Series, has been in the Yesterday’s Mail collection since it was published. Well, this week I was finally able to publish it on its own!
This book has an interesting story behind it. Our publishing company put out the box set that it was in, and I hadn’t planned on contributing a book. But, we had an unexpected slot to fill and Amanda Tru, the brilliant creator of the Crossroads Collections, came to me and asked me to write a book for it because she didn’t know anyone who would be able to write a book fast enough to fill that hole before it published.
I didn’t have a lot of time for my normal character development, so I went ahead and wrote the book in the Jewel Series world and made my main character someone who had already been in my books (Chase Anderson). For the character of Violet Pearl, I just went ahead and patterned her personality around — ME!
She’s an author who goes into her own head all of the time, has pretty serious social shyness issues, and loves her family with a passion. I had a blast creating her character Mandalynn Clementine – a housewife turned detective in 1944 New York City.
