Everywhere you look, if you look at “advice for writers” or “how to be the best writer you can be!”, one of the first things they say is, “Read. Read everything all the time.” Well, I’ve found that to not be the case for me. I don’t like to read fiction anymore. I don’t have the patience for it, and I don’t have the time. Whatever free time I end up with, I’m using to read homemaking, Christian living, or cookbooks, or to plan blog posts, or plot out novels. And that is just simply the truth.
Welcome to my blog! Please feel free to leave a comment - I love to hear from my readers! Also, check out this week's interview with a Christian author. There are always giveaways with these interviews!
Every time I finish one of Hallee Bridgeman’s novels, I think she’s reached the peak of storytelling and the next one can’t possibly be as good. And then every time I read the next one, it’s even better than the one before! This story kept me up late reading because I could not bear to stop. The non-stop action and hectic pace leave you breathless but never overshadow the building relationship between Aria and Nick. These characters, both with devastating pasts, never waver in their faith in God, yet still maintain absolute believabilty in their circumstances. They feel pain and loss, struggle with forgiveness and trust, and fall in love while living out a Christian lifestyle in very real ways. I’m already looking forward to the next one!
The flu hit our house last week. My 7-year-old, Scott, got it first and was prescribed Tamiful. I went ahead and gave to my youngest, Jeb, too, as a prophylactic measure, which worked, I think, since he never got sick. Then Gregg got it. Then I did and I’m still down with it. I AM feeling better than I have in days, so I’m hoping this is my last day with it. Thankfully, our daughter, Kaylee, was gone until Monday, so I’m praying she avoids getting it.
I have compiled all of my events and signings for the coming year, and created an “appearances” section of this website. You can see just how much traveling I’ll be doing this year! Click this link to follow my appearances and events.
Happy New Year! I’m writing this post with my phone. My kids were at my parents’ house for a couple of days, and Scott came down with Type A influenza. So, I left home in a hurry to do the 5-hour-drive, and inadvertently left my computer at home. But, I can still do this blog post, clumsy as it may be! It has been an incredible year. I have been amazed and humbled by the way God is using me and developing my ministry.
Here are my writing goals for 2014:
I will be on Seekerville on New Year’s Eve from 1PM EST until 2PM EST.
I’ll be giving away books and Godiva chocolate! You don’t want to miss it! (Click the picture to take you to the site!)
