I often post a list of all the things for which I’m thankful on Thanksgiving. But, in an effort to get back into the habit of daily blogging, I’ve decided to do a post a day for the month of November.
3. Kaylee
The next three posts are my three children. I am not posting them in any order other than oldest first.
At 16, Kaylee is our oldest child. She is one of the biggest blessings in my life.
I have often wondered “what if” — what if I went on to medical school, as was my plan (and my FULL college scholarship) instead of marrying her dad? What if? I never allow myself to consider any more, because the answer would always end the same: I wouldn’t have Kaylee.
Kaylee is witty, smart, fun, energetic, and good. She plays volleyball and tennis, volunteers at church, is on an executive youth council for the state of Kentucky, has a 4.0 grade-point-average, can cook like no other 16-year-old out there, and drives a standard like a professional driver. She is able to have intelligent conversations with adults and *LOVES* playing with babies.
She LOVES Jesus Christ and every decision she makes, including her choice in a godly boyfriend, is based on her love for Christ. I feared, having a daughter, what the teenaged years would bring. I wasn’t a good kid, and my high school days don’t bring a lot of fond memories for me. I think it’s wonderful that she embraces being young and active and is HAPPY.
I look forward to seeing what her future brings. It is a JOY to parent her.
I’m so grateful for your visit, today.
