My sister-in-law found out during her pregnancy that the baby she carried had Down’s Syndrome. By the time our niece, Annalise, was born, she and her husband had several weeks to prepare, plan, and equip themselves as they began the journey of parenting their daughter. They had occupational therapists when she was just an infant, a team of doctors, and the combined knowledge of decades of medical research to aid and assist them in their process.

Best Friends
So, today, June 8th, is National Best Friends Day. That one gave me pause. I didn’t know what to say about it or what to post about it. The fact is, I’m not really a “best friends” kind of girl. Don’t get me wrong, I have some GOOD friends; friends I love having girls’ night out dates, friends I love meeting for coffee, friends I’d bring a meal to in a heartbeat. I have friends I could call on in an emergency, an friends I MISS SO MUCH after moving away from our home of 8 years. But, I don’t have a “best friend.”
