Interview: Elysa Hendricks

Welcome to Readers Write to Know!  I asked you, my readers, what questions they would ask their favorite authors if given the chance.  This week, I am so pleased to introduce to you Elysa Hendricks, author of futuristic science fiction romances.  Elysa helped found the Windy City Chapter and the Futuristic, Fantasy & Paranormal Chapters of Romance Writers of America and taught workshops on writing at writer’s conferences and at local community colleges.  She writes exciting, action-packed stories, and her latest release, Star Raiders, sounds like so much fun!  Please enjoy Elysa’s interview as much as I did.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

There’s not much to tell about me. I’m 5’6″ tall. I have curly hair and brown eyes. I’m an author, a wife, a mother and a daughter. Everything else is subject to change without notice. Basically my “real” life is beige, bland, and boring, just the way I like it. Though I love writing exciting adventures for my characters, my motto in “real” life is: Boring is good. Excitement is vastly overrated.

Tell us about your current release.

My latest release is STAR RAIDERS, the second in The Star Chronicles my futuristic sci-fi romance series. STAR RAIDERS is what happens when Star Wars meets Pirates of the Caribbean.

A FIERY ENCOUNTER
Like two ill-aligned stars, Shyanne Kedar and Greyson Dane were destined to collide. She was a smuggler’s daughter, and he, an interstellar lawman. Their affair was scorching, dazzling…and ended like a supernova, in a blaze of betrayal.

A LOVE REKINDLED
Ten years later, the flames haven’t cooled. Shyanne’s lush body, the twist of her lips and the fire in her eyes—all radiate the same magnetism that ensnared Greyson before, and now he’s truly her prisoner. But as much as things have changed, they remain exactly the same. Danger threatens. Humanity’s fate hangs in the balance. And though his tempting captor doesn’t know it, if Greyson’s plan succeeds, it will save mankind…and lose him the only woman he ever loved. This time, forever.

STAR RAIDERS was a load of fun to write. When the fate of the universe hangs in the hands of a kick butt, smuggler heroine, and a sexy, intergalactic lawman, what could go wrong?

Interview: Time Travel Thriller Author R. Kyle Hannah

Welcome to Readers Write to Know! I asked you, my readers, what questions they would ask their favorite authors if given the chance. This week, I am super excited to introduce to you R. Kyle Hannah.  Kyle and my husband, Gregg, were deployed together in Afghanistan in 2002, and served together for many years (in fact, I have a hard time calling him ‘Kyle’, because in my mind he is ‘Major Hannah’).  I am so honored that he has joined us here.  His most recent novel, Time Assassins, releases this week.  You can find the links for it at the bottom of this post.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

First, thank you Hallee for the opportunity to talk to your fans! My name is R. Kyle Hannah and I am celebrating the release of my second novel, TIME ASSASSINS. I am married with two boys and I have been in the military for almost 27 years. I’ve been writing since Jr. High as a way to beat boredom…I never really thought I’d now be a published author!

Tell us about your current release.

TIME ASSASSINS is a time travel, alternate history thriller with a twist…you already know how it ends. I wanted to do something historical yet entertaining…something that might accidentally teach a fact or two while keeping the reader glued to the page. So, I came up with an alternate history storyline that morphs into our own history…all of the alternate stories happen in other timelines. I don’t think anyone has approached it like that before, and it really does make a good story.

What inspired you to start writing, or did you always want to write?

As I stated in the first question, I’ve been writing since Jr. High school as a way to combat boredom. You know those kids that are bored in class…they doodle, they act out, right? Well, I can’t draw a stick man and I knew if I acted out I’d really be in trouble at home, so, I decided to write little stories about this and that. Space aliens, martial artists, shooting bad guys…whatever happened to be on my mind that day. The stories are absolutely horrible (I still have them in a binder) but it was a start. And now, here I am!

Interview: Tara Manderino

Welcome to Readers Write to Know! I asked you, my readers, what questions they would ask their favorite authors if given the chance. This week, I am pleased to introduce to you Tara Manderino.  Tara writes everything from historical westerns to vampire intrigue!  She also has an awesome cover for hr book, Bound by Blood.  Please enjoy Tara’s answers to your questions as much as I did.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I live in southwestern Pennsylvania, about 30 miles north of the Mason-Dixon line to give you an idea of how far north of south I am. My two sons are grown men now but they haven’t lost their knack for alternately amusing and aggravating me. I guess that’s what you would call a normal parent / child relationship. Since the boys are grown, I know have Lydia, the Boxer as a major source of peskiness. Love her dearly, but she seems to have difficulty understanding mommy wants to write now.

Tell us about your current release.

My latest release is Bound By Blood. A vampire tale that is not as bloody as the title sounds. It has a little romance and a lot of adventure. It’s not your typical vampire story. I do have more plans for Alex and his ring.

The blurb:

In his two-hundred and fifty years as a vampire, Alex only observed, never intervened with any of his progeny, yet what else can he do when a little girl of his lineage is kidnapped? When he meets Lisa, the child’s nanny, his protective instincts kick into gear, yet he finds he must expose her to ever increasing danger as they search for the missing child. To protect Lisa from perils she is unaware of, he harbors her in his own home.

With Lisa’s help, Alex is able to determine who has the child. Learning why she was abducted rocks him on his heels and sets off a transcontinental search that leads to ancient myths of the Cardinal’s Ruby; the stone in Alex’s ring.

Alex and Lisa have one shot to save the child, but will they be able to stop the impending destruction raining down?
