Interview with Author Kimberly Payne

Welcome to Readers Write to Know! I asked you, my readers, what questions they would ask their favorite authors if given the chance. This week, I’m trilled to bring Kimberly Payne back to my blog. I’ve previously interviewed with her Fit for Faith – a topic that is near and dear to my heart. Last year, she was my guest with her  Trees of the Book, a 26 page children’s activity book about the trees in the Bible. As the mother of younger children, I LOVE that one. Now she’s here promoting her devotional photo journal about her trip to the Holy Land. I’m so intrigued by her branching out to photo devotionals! I hope you check it out and are blessed in some way by her journey. Please enjoy this interview as much as I have.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m an author who is reinventing herself as an authorpreneur. I’m venturing into sharing my books in other formats such as podcasts, webinars, and teleseminars. I have many interests including walking/hiking, photography, reading, and writing.

My_Journey_to_the_Holy_Land_CoverTell us about your current release.

My latest release is a devotional photo journal inspired by my 10-day trip to Israel with my mom. It combines my faith and photography into a short devotional. http://amzn.to/17GTCpg

Who was your first Screen/Musical Crush?

I was head-over-heels in love with Michael J. Fox. I loved his character in Family Ties and also in Back to the Future. He was the only star that I actually wrote a fan letter but he never responded. He broke my young heart.

What is your personal, most effective way to get past writer’s block?

A prayer walk. Getting out into the great outdoors, moving my body, and getting my blood flowing while talking with God is the best way for me. God never disappoints to clear any blocks I’m experiencing.

Have you always wanted to write a book?

I’ve kept my goal-planning records from many years ago and one of my “bucket list” goals was to write a children’s book. I’m excited to report that I’ve surpassed that goal with three children’s activity books published in the last few years: Trees of the Book-Learning from God’s Creation, Adam’s Animals – Fun Facts about God’s Creation, and Super Simple Animal Crafts.

What advice do you have for aspiring writers?

Never, never, never give up. Some days, weeks, and even years can be discouraging but if you keep moving forward one step at a time, you will reach your goal.

KimberleyPayneWhat is your preferred method of writing? (computer, pen & paper, etc.)

I write my devotionals with pen and paper, but all other writing is done on the computer. Editing is always done on the computer.

What is your inspiration for writing?

My Father God. He is the source of all my creative ideas. He deposits inspiration into my thoughts in the most unlikely places.

Where’s the strangest place you’ve ever had a great writing idea?

I actually get a lot of devotional thoughts when I’m snowmobiling with my husband. Last year, I collected a number of these articles together into a short devotional called Think Snow.
